Bingley Show 2016

Horses and horsepower will thrill the crowds at this year’s Bingley Show on Saturday 23rd July at Myrtle Park. There will be motorbike thrills from threetime British Trials Champion Steve ‘Mr Showtime’ Colley, who has performed his motorcycle trials stunt show throughout the world.

Steve’s show features amazing tricks and stunts including his world famous mono bike, which has no front wheel or front brake. Steve is the only trials rider in the world to perform this stunt. He provides his own humorous commentary via a specialised helmet microphone.

Bingley Show (www.bingleyshow.co.uk) is one of the biggest one-day agricultural, horticultural, craft and horse shows in Europe, and showjumping is always one of the day’s major attractions, with some top horse riders competing in the main ring throughout the day.

There are also classes for cattle and sheep, horticulture, dogs, cats (the country’s only cat show inside a marquee), goats, pigeons, poultry, rabbits, cavies and mice, the Airedale Beagles parade, and up to 40 vintage cars and tractors on display.

The annual 10k race, organised by Bingley Harriers, is another popular feature, attracting more entries every year. For details of how to enter, visit www.bingleyharriers.co.uk

The Airedale Agricultural Society can trace its origins back to a show held in a field at Gawthorpe in 1862. This year is the 133rd show.

Show chairman and managing director Martin Preston said: “Our show brings agriculture into an urban area. We’ve got everything a country show should have, in the middle of a town park.”

The show runs from 9am until about 6pm on Saturday 23rd July, and advance tickets can be booked now for less than the on-the-day prices: £8 adults, £4 children 4-15, FREE children under 5, £22 family ticket (up to two adults and three children), seniors £6.

They are available from the following newsagents: Poplar House, Bingley; Cottingley News; Crossflatts News; Mornington Road News; Cullingworth News. Post Offices: Baildon; Denholme; Gilstead; Harden. Other Shops: Kay’s Krafts, Queens Court, Bingley; Card Shop, Chapel Lane, Bingley.

Parking in the streets around Myrtle Park is very restricted on show day and normal parking charges in Bingley will apply. There will be free parking at Bradford and Bingley Sports Club, although there are no buses running so it will be necessary to walk to the showground.
